Tips for using radar level meters

Radar level meter is based on the principle of time travel measurement appearance, radar wave with the speed of light operation, the operation of the moment can be converted into level signals through the electronic components.

Radar level meter is a measuring instrument based on the time-travel principle. Radar waves run at the speed of light, and the running time can be converted into a level signal through electronic components. The probe emits a high-frequency pulse and transmits it along the cable or rod probe. When the pulse encounters the surface of the material, it is reflected back by the receiver inside the surface and converts the distance signal into a level signal.

  1. When using a radar level meter, you must pay attention to the measurement range. Exceeding the range will not only fail to obtain accurate measurement data, but may also damage the radar level meter. The measurement range should be calculated from the bottom of the tank where the light wave touches. If the storage tank is special and the bottom is concave, the level is lower than the calculation point at this time and measurement cannot be performed.

  2. If the medium has a low dielectric constant and is at a low liquid level, the bottom of the tank is visible. In order to ensure measurement accuracy, it is recommended to move the zero point upward appropriately.

  3. When measuring low dielectric constant media, if its level is lower than the liquid level measurement value and the tank bottom is visible, if you want to make the measurement value more accurate, you can adjust the zero point upward to a position higher than the tank bottom. Although the measurement range value can reach the top of the antenna tip, this is only an ideal state. In the current situation, the influence of adhesion needs to be considered, so the measurement value should be fixed at least 100mm away from the top of the antenna.

  4. For overflow protection, a safety distance can be defined and added to the blind area.

  5. If the measured medium is in constant motion, in order to ensure the accuracy of the measurement, it is recommended to fix the waveguide to the bottom of the storage tank on site, and then fix it in the center. During the welding process, the lubricity of the inner wall of the waveguide needs to be ensured. In order to avoid the obstruction of the waveguide due to uneven points, the smoothness of the welding also needs to be ensured.

  6. Radar level meter: Depending on the concentration, foam can both absorb and reflect microwaves, but it can be measured under certain conditions.
