Electromagnetic flowmeter use common problems and solutions

2025-01-09

Electromagnetic flowmeters are mainly used for flow measurement of industrial pipeline media fluids, such as gas, liquid, steam and other media.

Comprehensive solutions to electromagnetic flowmeter problems:

① Under the guidance of the contractor and the design department, re-select some flowmeters that cannot meet the use conditions due to too high temperatures. Choose abgd type flow tube lined with polytetrafluoroethylene and the temperature range is ℃.

② Remove the heating wires wrapped around all flow tubes, wrap the heating wire around the flow tubes, and remove the insulation material to ensure that the instrument operates within the required temperature range.

③ Modify the wiring of the flow meter according to the grounding specifications provided by the manufacturer, connect the shielded wire to both ends of the transmitter and flow tube, and add a shielding layer to the excess part of the stripped long signal wire. Separate the two shielded wires and make sure the connection is secure.

④Add support to the process pipelines at both ends of the flow tube, and ensure that the connecting flanges at both ends are on the same level to make the flow tube as stress-free as possible. At the same time, the process pipelines whose straight pipe length does not meet the requirements are replaced.

⑤Intensify inspection and maintenance efforts. All electromagnetic flowmeters are inspected twice a day, problems that arise are dealt with in a timely manner, and sediments and electrodes in the flow tubes are regularly cleaned.

Electromagnetic flowmeters are mainly used for flow measurement of industrial pipeline media fluids, such as gas, liquid, steam and other media. It is characterized by small pressure loss, large measuring range, and high accuracy. When measuring the volume flow rate under working conditions, it is almost not affected by parameters such as fluid density, pressure, temperature, and viscosity. There are no moving mechanical parts, so it has high reliability and low maintenance. Instrument parameters can be stable for a long time. This instrument uses a piezoelectric stress sensor, which has high reliability and can work in the operating temperature range of -20°C to +250°C. It has analog standard signals and digital pulse signal output, which is easy to use with digital systems such as computers. It is a relatively safe and ideal flow meter.
