In industrial use, there are many types of flow meters and there are many principles of flow meters. As a measuring instrument, the first thing to consider is A matter of precision. In billing environments like wastewater treatment, accuracy is even more important. Improper installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter sensor will affect the accuracy, so be sure to pay attention to the correct installation of the sensor!
At present, electromagnetic flowmeters have become a very commonly used flow measurement instrument in production fields such as petrochemical industry, water resources treatment, and food industry. The product performance and reliability of electromagnetic flowmeters are very good. As a precision instrument, electromagnetic flowmeter has high requirements for installation and use. During use, some situations may occur more or less due to operational negligence and non-compliance with specifications. This requires the operator to carefully read the product instruction manual before installation, follow the specification requirements, and pay attention to the correct selection. The installation position can give full play to the performance of the electromagnetic flowmeter, effectively ensure the stability of its work, and ensure its measurement data accuracy and service life.
The electromagnetic flowmeter sensor should be installed in a dry and ventilated place indoors. Avoid installation in places where the ambient temperature is too high, should not be subject to strong vibration, and try to avoid equipment with strong magnetic fields, such as large motors, transformers, etc. Avoid installation in places with corrosive gases. The installation location is convenient for inspection and maintenance. This is the environmental condition that ensures the normal operation of the sensor. In order to ensure that the sensor measuring tube is filled with the measured medium, the transmitter is installed vertically with the flow direction from bottom to top. Especially for liquid-solid two-phase ones, they must be installed vertically. If only horizontal installation is allowed on site, the two electrodes must be on the same horizontal plane.
The AC potential of several millivolts measured by the electrodes of the electromagnetic flow sensor is based on the potential within the sensor. In order to stabilize the potential of the liquid and maintain the same potential between the sensor and the fluid to ensure stable measurement, both ends of the sensor housing and the metal tube should be well grounded, and the converter housing should also be grounded. The grounding resistance cannot be greater than 10∩ and cannot be shared with the grounding wire of other electrical equipment. If good contact between the sensor housing and the metal pipe cannot be guaranteed, metal wires should be used to connect them. Reliable grounding.
To avoid signal interference, the signal between sensor and converter must be transmitted using shielded conductors. It is not allowed to connect signal cables and power supplyThe wires are placed parallel in the same cable steel tube. The length of signal cable should generally not exceed 30m. The installation location of the converter should avoid strong AC and DC magnetic fields and vibration, the ambient temperature should be -20-50°C, it should not contain corrosive gases, and the relative humidity should not be greater than 80%. In order to avoid the influence of flow velocity phase measurement, the flow regulating valve should be set downstream of the sensor. For small-diameter sensors, since the distance from the electrode center to the inlet end of the flow meter is equivalent to several times the diameter D, there is no need to specify the upstream straight pipe. However, for electromagnetic flowmeters with larger diameters, generally there should be a straight pipe section of more than 5D in the upstream, and there is generally no straight pipe section requirement in the downstream.
In short, to ensure the measurement accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter, the correct installation position is very important. If you don’t know much about it, you can find the flowmeter manufacturer Supmea to give you the correct selection and recommended installation.
