Electromagnetic flowmeter common applications

2025-03-05

Common application occasions and advantages and disadvantages of electromagnetic flowmeters.

1. Electromagnetic flowmeters are suitable for many occasions, including but not limited to:

Petrochemical industry: In the petrochemical industry During the production process, liquid flow needs to be accurately measured and controlled to ensure product quality and production efficiency.

Steel metallurgy: A large amount of liquids, such as water, solutions, etc., are used in the steel metallurgy process. Electromagnetic flowmeters can accurately measure the flow of these liquids and provide important data for the production process.

Water supply and drainage: In the water supply and drainage system, the water flow needs to be accurately measured and controlled to ensure the quality of water supply and the normal operation of the drainage system.

Hydraulic irrigation: In a hydraulic irrigation system, the flow of irrigation water needs to be accurately measured and controlled to ensure irrigation efficiency and efficient use of water resources.

Water treatment: In the water treatment system, the flow of treated water needs to be accurately measured and controlled to ensure the treatment effect and effluent quality.

Environmental sewage: In an environmentally friendly sewage treatment system, sewage flow needs to be accurately measured and controlled to ensure sewage treatment effects and discharge standards.

Papermaking, medicine, food and other industrial and agricultural sectors: In these fields, various liquid flows need to be accurately measured and controlled to meet the requirements of the production process and product quality.

2. The advantages of electromagnetic flow meters mainly include:

The measuring channel is a smooth straight tube that will not be blocked and is suitable for measuring liquid-solid two-phase fluids containing solid particles. Such as pulp, mud, sewage, etc.

There is no pressure loss caused by flow detection, and the energy saving effect is good.

The measured volumetric flow rate is virtually unaffected by changes in fluid density, viscosity, temperature, pressure and conductivity.

Wide flow range and wide caliber range.

Corrosive fluids can be applied.

However, the electromagnetic flowmeter also has some disadvantages:

It can only measure the liquid flow of conductive media, but cannot measure the flow of non-conductive media.

Installation and debugging are more complicated than other flow meters, and the requirements are more stringent. There should be no vibration or strong magnetic field in the installation location. During installation, the transmitter and pipeline must have good contact and good grounding. The gas remaining in the measuring tube must be exhausted during use, otherwise it will cause large measurement errors.

When used to measure viscous liquids with dirt, the stickiness or sediment adheres to the inner wall of the measuring tube or the electrode. If the dirt on the electrode reaches a certain thickness, the meter may not be able to measure.

The above information is for reference only. If you need more information, it is recommended to consult professionals. In short, electromagnetic flow meters are suitable for various occasions that require precise measurement and control of liquid flow.
