Electromagnetic flowmeter installation requirements and grounding
Inlet and outlet straight pipe sections
If there is no large number of continuous vortices entering the measurement section, the measurement will have nothing to do with the flow velocity distribution state. However, such vortices may occur behind double elbows, tangential flow inlets, or half-open gate valves. Therefore, it is recommended that the flow regulating valve be installed downstream of the sensor. In addition, ensure that the measuring pipe section is always filled with liquid.
Electrode axis
The flowmeter can be installed on vertical, horizontal or inclined channels. In all cases, the electrode axis must be maintained in a horizontal orientation and a vertical orientation of the electrode axis should be avoided.
Grounding
The grounding of the sensor is not only for safety purposes, but also for the safe operation of the flow meter. The sensor's ground screw should be connected to ground potential. For technical reasons, if possible, the potential of this point should be the same as the potential of the fluid being measured.
For plastic or insulated pipelines, grounding of the fluid is accomplished by installing a grounding ring. If stray potentials are present in the pipe, it is recommended to install grounding rings on both ends of the sensor.
For rubber-lined sensors with a diameter ≥ DN125, conductive rubber is installed in the lining to ensure fluid grounding.
